Consultation Toolbox

The Thinking Tree Toolbox offers a range of traditional and community led consultation methods that can be introduced into your current engagement activities or as stand alone opportunities.

Thinking Tree are committed to finding new ways to help your consultation add value and leave a legacy in the communities you are working in. Both our traditional consultation and community led methods are a way of helping this to happen. Examples of our Toolbox include:

1. Interviews

We can write the interview process and conduct interviews with stakeholders to ensure we gather large numbers of views about your plans or activities.  We can do these face to face or on the phone and in very large surveys.

2. Workshops and focus groups

We can bring together local people in groups to discuss your consultation in detail, using the groups to explore and draw out people’s real thoughts and feelings.

We have developed effective ways to work in groups with those people who are seldom heard in consultations.

3. Peer interviewing

We support local people are supported to design and deliver questionnaires based on their collective identification of need and your views.  This is highly participative and focuses on local people truly owning and being responsible for the consultation activities.

Local people are then trained to interview community members and then work together with us to analyse the results.

4. Questionnaires and surveys

We can work with you to develop effective, tailored questionnaires that meet your needs and then undertake the survey for you, analyses the results and present you with a full report.

5. Consensus building or ‘dialogue’

We have developed innovative methods for consensus building in decision making.  These methods involve working with all stakeholders to seek out and develop joint solutions.

6. Local interviewers

During this process local people are recruited and trained to deliver your determined questionnaire.  This process allows for greater rigour in terms of research and still achieves high levels of participation.
